Bernstein Symphonic Dances from West Side Story
Prokofiev Suite No. 2 Op. 64ter from Romeo and Juliet
Commemorating the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death, Orchestra Vitae and St John’s Smith Square present a concert inspired by the work of England’s most famous playwright.
The concert will open with the orchestra’s first commission Arches by acclaimed composer Dani Howard. Her new piece draws on themes from Romeo and Juliet. Staying with the star-crossed lovers the orchestra will perform Bernstein’s rousing and energetic Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. The infamous Romeo and Juliet (2nd Suite) by Prokofiev brings the final curtain down on this theatrically inspired concert.
There will be a pre-concert talk at 6.30pm
